We thought we had found the perfect general contractor for our real estate rehab (refreshment) project, but it quickly turned into a nightmare when they started deviating from the scope of work outlined in the construction documents and making changes to the project without our approval. In the end, we were left with a project that was not only over budget, but also not up to the standards we had agreed upon, all due to the contractor’s constant change orders and not following the initial scope of work.
